A DRAMA ABOUT THE FREE WOMEN OF COLOR
IN NEW ORLEANS, 1813
New Orleans in the early 19th century. Beartrice, a wealthy free Black woman, finds herself at risk of losing everything after the death of her affluent, white lover. As racial divides widen, and the world around her begins to crumble, she must do whatever she can to keep her family together. Inspired by Federico García Lorca’s The House of Bernarda Alba, this family drama by Marcus Gardley is about rivalry, passion and one woman’s struggle for survival.
